SOCIAL REFORM

At. St. Matthew's Church, Brooklyn, last flight, the Eev. J. K. Archer delivered the first of a proposed, fortnightly series of lectures.. The Rev. K. H. Hobday occupied the chair. : The lecturer stated that the reason why the Church had not in the past discussed social reform was because it had not realised tho completeness of -Christ's message, which included the salvation, of the body' as well as that of the soul. The mission of the Church was not _to save ghosts at present inhabiting bodies, but men, women, and children. Therefore, sanitation, the cost of living, etc., were. Christian topics. Concluding, he stated that it was his conviction that ■wroii" would righted, but-would the Church of to-day help to right it or not? The great need of Christendom was that Christians should be committed to Christianity. An interesting o; cussion followed,- closing with a vote thanks to the lecturer.
