RUGBY FOOTBALL

MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

Mr. D. D. Weir presided at last night's meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union Committee. \

Complaint was made that the fourthclass game, Selwyn v. Foneke, was postponed last' Saturday to allow.the Treatham teams to play, but the, teams did not turn up. The committee decided to ask the Trentham Committee for an explanation. Consideration of the ordering off of two players on 18th June was deferred, as the referee (Mr. Smyrke) -was the only one of the three concerned who attended the meeting. The question of permitting Selwyn to replay matches, missed through a misunderstanding on 3rd June, was held over for future consideration.

A protest lodged by St. John's against Hutt on account of similarity of colours was not upheld, the referee reporting that the protest was unwarranted. Mr. Pollock, who had failed to attend on a previous occasion, was present, and after enquiry by the committee it ■was decided that he be suspended for two playing Saturdays. " ' *

Regarding next Saturday's games it was pointed out that if a parade of the troops took place all. games would have to be "postponed. .
