Every train that passes through Otaki is met on arrival by a first-class motor 'bus, and passengers desiring to reach tho town are conveyed there in a very short space of time by Mr.. Arch. Smith's motor, and, for tho distance, there is no cheaper ride obtainable in New Zealand. Besides the up-to-date service maintained between the . town and station, Mr'; Smith, who is the proprietor of the Telegraph Stables, provides four other motors for hire at short notice for travellers or : parties desiring to visit any part of the Island. Firstclass drivers are always available, and the rates charged are very moderate. A handsome high power Austin car has recently been added to his plant, which from every point of view is one of the best to be found anywhere. An extensive carrying plant with, good horses is also available, for the public's convenience. Saddle horses, harness horses with buggies and dogcarts, are also kept for hire. Picnic and wedding parties and_ racegoers ■ will always, find Mr. Smith's services at their disposal.
