RETURNED SOLDIERS

AND THEIR EMPLOYMENT.

Mr. Glover recently, asked the Government whether it is prepared to give employment to returned soldiers, as immigrants are obtaining all positions in the Public Service.

To this the Prime Minister has replied as follows: The Public Service Commissioner has advised the Government that every position for which a. returned soldier is likely to be suitable is offered to a- returned soldier. The statement that immigrants are apparently obtaining all positions in tlie Public Service is apparently made under a. misapprehension. If the honourable member would give the names, of any immigrants who have obtained positions to the detriment of returned soldiers, the Public Service Commissioner will look into the matter at once. v ■ ' .
