CYCLIST CORPS

Some particulars of the Cyclist Corps to be formed in New Zealand and sent forward for service with the New Zealand Division were given by the Minister for Defence yesterday. The Minister stated that the corps would consist of eight officers and 193 other ranks, most of Whom would be drawn from among the mounted riflemen who had played the game so well and offered to take up any service New Zealand asked them to. The Government had agreed to raise and train a complete company, and supply reinforcements for it. The company will include artificers, signallers, medical corps, men for water duties, an interpreter, and transport drivers. Some men would be trained in first aid and. sanitary duties also. The equipment will be supplied by the Imperial Government.
