A soldier at the fort heard- the crash, and hurried down to Walsh's assistance, reaching him just in time to prevent his being run over by another motor-cycle with side-car attached. Walsh was taken in a taxi-cab to his home, where it was found that his in- i juries consisted of cuts and abrasions on the bead. He was also Buffering from shock; but is now reported to be recovering. The motor-cyclist was shaken, but was enabled to', continue-his ride to Wellington. James Peterson and A. An arm was broken, the body was much bruised, and the skull was fractured. It is alleged that the deceased was in | Midhirst on, the morning of Thursday last, and went home for luncheon, leaving again about 2.30 for the township, but he was not again seen alive.
