RIFLE CLUB UNION
COMPETITION ARRANGED
The Wellington City and Suburban Defence Rifle Clubs have formed a strong union, and at a meeting held recently, President Mac Donald, of the Highland Club, was elected chairman, and DeputyPresident Slaughter, of Hit Suburbs Club, was elected treasurer and secretary. The union has been formed with the object of bringing the different clubs in closer touch with one another, and to provide machinery so as to enable them to act conjointly, quickly, and effectively, should the occasion ever arise, as well as to promote friendly rivalry amongst the different clubs, by means of teams matches and competitions, and generally to elevate the rifle olnb movement as an effective unit of defence. Every club has been represented in the various Reinforcements, some to a considerable extent, and the knowledge of shooting gained in the different clubs has iio doubt been valuable to them as snipers and sharpshooters. The question of ammunition is getting very serious, and it is hoped the Defence department will make the usual jrraht available as wxiti as possible. The meeting decided to inaugurate champion teams matches, extending over two days, for. senior and junior teams. The "senior teams will shoot a-f. 300, 500, and 600 yards on the lirxt day, and 800. 900. and 1000 yards on the second day.
