METHODIST CHURCH
PETONE CIRCUIT. ; -The Rev. J. J. Lewis occupied- thechair at the quarterly meeting of the Petone Methodist Circuit. Regarding the minister for next year, ,it was unanimously decided to invite the Rev. Angus M'Bean, of Eketahuna, to take j up the work of the circuit. The reports of the various Sunday schools, which were considered satisfactory, were adopted. Though there was a small deficit in 'the finances, things were, altogether, very encouraging. It was \ announced that the Band of Hope showed a membership of 35. LOWER HUTT. ! The report presented at the quarterly ■ meeting of the Lower Hutt Circuit showed that the names of twelve new members were added to the roll last quarter, j The financial statement was one of the best in the circuit' 6 history, the ordinary income being a record. After paying : the interest on the parsonage loan (£6 ! 3s 9d), a new charge on the circuit, 'and other special items of expenditure, there remained a credit balance of £4 lls 6d- j The Sunday-school reports were considered satisfactory, there being 241 children, now under tuition. Miss Jenness presented a report concerning the Young Worshippers' League, which showed that j the average attendance of children at I the morning services was 64. The anniversary services and presentation of certificates take place on 24th October. Messrs. Walton and Alder&ley were appointed to represent the circuit at tho next synod, to be held in Wellington on 16th November. An invitation to tha Rev. W. Beckett to continue in chargo of the circuit for another year was accepted. In reference to the proposal to i invite the Rev. Val. Trigg, evangelist of "Victoria, to conduct special services in I the church, it was decided to leave the. master to the vote of members.
