SATURDAY'S MARCH

FURTHER ARRANGEMENTS. THE LINE OF ROUTE.' Further arrangements have been made for the route march by the Ist and 2nd Battalions New Zealand Rifle Brigade and the 7th Reinforcements through the principal city streets on Saturday afternoon. t The route has been definitely fixed as follows : — From King's Wharf via "Bunny-street into Lambton-quay, by the Government Printing Office, along The Quay, Willis, and Manners streets, into Lower Cuba-street, past Town Hall, Jervois-quay to King's Wharf. Barricades will be erected at the wharf, and troops placed at certain points to control the traffic. Tickets for next-of-kin will be issued at Defence Record Office, Brandon-street, Wellington, .on Thursday and Friday, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and on Saturday up to 11 a.m. These tickets, will admit bearers by the Queen's Wharf gate on Saturday afternoon, up to 3 o'clock, to a special enclosure. Members of the Legislature will be admitted by the same entrance on showing their ( Parliament medallions. On re-embarkationi of the troops after the march, the next-of-kin will be admitted on to the wharf alongside the ships, but not on boaard the same. The public are specially requested to assist the military authorities in carrying out these arrangements. They are urged accordingly to take up positions along the line of route, and not overcrowd the approaches to the wharf or the enclosure reserved for next of kin. Small parcels intended for delivery to the troops on board the. ships must be sent to "W" wharf shed not later than 10 a.m. Saturday. They will be placed in charge of the quartermaster on each ship, and delivered to the addressee when the troops are finally embarked. Members of the Ist and 2nd Battalions New Zealand Rifle* Brigade "The Trents," will be granted leave for a period of two hours' each in relays on Friday afternoon and evening. They will not be permitted to sleep away from their units. Members of the 7th Reinforcements encamped at Trentham will, as usual, not be granted leave after Thursday evening. Passes to visit Trentham Camp will be giver to members, of the 7th Reinforcements, on application to the Camp Commandant, for their friends, and will be available to-morrow and on Friday between the hours of 12 to 1.30 and 4.30 to 6 p.m. No passes will be issued except in the manner prescribed. • The public therefore will find it useless applying to the Minister's office or Defence Headquarters, and will be saving their own time and that of the authorities by going to the quarters indicated.

A cottage of four rooms, erected on a section in Knigge's-avenue 29ft by 62ft, in the estate of the late Mr. J. T. P. Morshead, was sold at auction this afternoon by Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Co. for £575, the purchaser being Mrs. M. A. Skilton. Mr. Hunter Macandrew, Otago Railways District Engineer, has been notified of his transfer to Wellington. His successor at Dunedin Is Mr. F. J. Jones, who has recently had charge of the construction works at Auckland, and before that was District Engineer at Wanganui. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Fortunatus Evelyn Wright, better known in the city as "Doctor" Wright ? was charged on two informations, with criminal offences on a boy. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was fixed at £100, with sureties to that amount. The special case in the General Assembly Library reserved for rare and valuable books lias recently had placed in' it an autograph copy of the late Lord Roberts's book, "Forty -one Years in India." The book has been presented by Mr. W. F. Inder, solicitor, Gore, who purchased the volume in an auction held in connection with the Southland Queen Carnival The Salvation Army will give an interesting display of its world-wide operations to-morrow evening, in Wellington, when Commissioner Hodder will conduct an -All Nations Demonstration. The demonstration in the citadel will be preceded by a procession through the city from the Post Office, in which representatives of all nations, attired in national costumes, will take part. \ To-morrow, at 11 a.m., Messrs.^ J. H. Bethune and Co. will sell, under instructions from Mr. C. E. Wyett, tho furniture in his residence, No. 13, Boulcottterrace, including piano. The furniture will be on view this afternoon, and on the morning of sale. A notice to senior cadets is advertised in this issue. At 2.30 p.m. to-morrow Messrs. C. W. Price and Co. will sell butcher's ' stock, fittings, horses, carts, at Mr H. Parker's premises, Main-road, Johnsonville. Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will hold a sale of household furniture, including walnut diningroom suite, on the premises, No. 211, Grant-road, to-morrow, at 1.30 o'clock.
