FOR THE COLOURS

MORE MEN WANTED , WELLINGTON'S RESPONSE. Since noon yesterday 33 recruits (fits and unfits) have handed in their medical papers at No. 5 Group Office, Bucklestreet, after having been examined by the doctor. This makes 53 since noon, on Saturday, or only 26 per day for the two days upon which the recruiting office was open. This morning only seven men enlisted. This is considered very poor, and unless recruiting is greatly accelerated imme'etiately it is considered as certain that there will be a serious shortage in the 10th Reinforcements going into camp in five weeks' time. With this plainly threatening, and with 4000 fit men required every two months after that, it is urged that no man who is able to should delay any longer in making application to join the colours. Every man is wanted, particularly for the Mounted Rifles and In--fantry, which require specially heavy drafts of men to maintain them in the firing line.
