RALLIES IN ENGLISH PROVINCES. LONDON", 4th -October. There- have been recruiting rallies throughout the provinces. At Eastbourne fifteen hundred men in hospital uniform paraded. AUSTRALIA MAINTAINING A STEADY LEVEL. (Received October 5, 8.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Recruiting throughout the Commonwealth continues to maintain the steady, useful level of 3500 to 4000 weekly. FRENCH AEROPLANES | POWER AND SPEED BEING INCREASED. PARIS, 4th October. The^ Secretary for Aeronautics, in an -interview, said that they were working unceasingly at the construction of heavy machines. The radius of action and speed of biplanes would be increased, and monoplanes would be discarded. In twelve months the lifting capacity of French aeroplanes had been quadrupled i and the speed nearly doubled.
