SECOND DAY (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— GopyMght.) SYDNEY, 4th October. The weather was fine arid the going hard for the second day's events of the A.J.G. Meeting. The attendance' wa's large. Sportem'en favourably comment on the, number of N-ew Zea-landers- engaged, the fields feeing reminiscent of 1905. Following ane the Results :— The Shorts, of* 6tt) sdvs; six ftrrlpngs: — Gigandra, 8.8, 2; Panacre, 7.8, 2; Feud, 7.12, 3. Fifteen started. Won easily by one length and threes-quarters. Time, lmin lS^sec. Clibborn Stakes, of 750 soys; one mile and a furiong. — Cetigne, 9.8, 1 ; Westconrt, 8.12, 2; Lingle, &5, 3. Seven started. At the half-mile- Cetigne -went" to the front, and won lsy a length. Time, lmin 45£ sec. » Metropolitan Handicap, of SGOO soys. One- mile- and a -half MF. W. At the start, Little, Cagou, and Royal Rufus were quickest away. At the mile Royal Rufus led from Secret Service, Little, Ornato, and Aurifer. At the half-mile William the Silent went to the front and led to the straight from Garlin, St. Carwyne, and Reputation, the last-named coming up fast. At the distance St. Carwyne overhauled William the Silent. It was an exciting finish. Won by half a length, with two lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 33g«ec First Steeplechase, of 500 soys; about two miles and a-half.— Bfiarberry, 11.3, 1; Canadium, 9.7, 2; Wadden, 11.4, 3. Nine started. The Pole stumbled and lost his jockey.
