It was decided by the Court of Appeal to-day to hear argument on 12th April in connection with three election petitions recently heard at Te Kuiti (Taumarunui), Hawkes Bay, and Bay of Islands. In the_ Taumarunui case the point to be decided is as to whether the twentyeight days in which a petition may be lodged dates from the day on which the writ was endorsed or the date on which the official declaration was made. • As to Hawkes Bay, the principal point is as to whether the Votes of people irregularly on the rolls can be counted. In the Bay ' of Islands case the, question has been raised as to when an official declaration is made — whether it is the first official declaration ; or the declaration made subsequently in an amended form as the result of a recount. It depends on the decision of the Court as to whether the petition was lodged in time or not.
