NIAGARA DELAYED
FIFTEEN KNOTS ON TWO SCREWS. (IT TttBORAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Niagara arrived at 10 o'clock this morning, several hours late. The delay was due to the centre propeller becoming useless, pn Saturday evening through the shaft sinking a'• fraction of an inch in a stern bearing. The vessel made an average of fifteen knots on the two remaining propellers. On her arrival a diver examined the shaft, but it has not yet been decided whether the steamer shall be docked. The captain says the Niagara could proceed to Vancouver on two screws, the disabled screw ? which is driven by a low pressure turbine, being merely auxiliary. ' Later. It transpires that the Niagara lost a blade off the centre propeller on the voyage from Sydney. She will probably be docked here. Her departure for Vancouver has been postponed till Friday.
