TRADE WITH THE ENEMY
CASES RIFE IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY. Ist February. Mr. William Hughe*, Federal Attor-ney-GeneTal, state*, that there are more cases of trading with the enemy in Sydney than in the whole of the Commonwealth. Some- people, he frays, show a deliberate intention to carry on trade
with the enemy, and use agents in neutral countries for that purpose. Prosecutions will follow immediately. (Received February 2, 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Attorney-General (Hon. W? M. Hughes) is obtaining a list of American wool-buying firms allegedly favourable to the enemy. _ Tile wool sales regulations have been tightened against possible purchases for enemy nations. It is stated that certain buyers i'ntend_ to take legjal proceedings against auctioneers refusing their bids.
