SWIMMING
To encourage swimming and teach lifesaving are the aims of the Petone Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club, which opens its season on Saturday next. A particularly attractive programme has been drawn up. the items including an exhibition of life-saving by the Matfanui Life-saving Club. Fine weather is only needed to ensure an auspicious opening for the new club

On Thursday and Friday next they will hold an extensive Bale of furniture and effects, ironmongery, glassware, crockery, and shop fittings, etc., oh the premises, No. 202, Cuba-street, commencing each day at 11 o'clock, on > account of Mr J, Lewin, who is givihg up business. A. L. Wilson and Co. advertise particulars of an unreseived sale of engineering plant and tools they are to conduct nt 11 o'clock on Thursday, at Mr J.
