The Assistant Commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade Overseas acknowledges the donation of £10 from Miss H. M. Smyth, of Bonny Glen, Marton, for Queen Mary's Needlework Guild for sick and wounded soldiers. This guild is composed of lady members of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and Queen Mary is its president. The Wellington' Senior Nursing Division has forwarded a large number of gifts of clothing for the Belgians. On Friday last a large " social," in connection with the Presbyterian Church at Seatoun, was held to bid farewell to the Rev. H. Bain and Mrs. Bain, who are leaving for Oxford West, Christchurch. The Rev. Mr. Shirer presided, and Mr. H. M'Farlane, sen., on behalf of the community, presented the guests of the evening with an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns. The Rev. Mr. Bean suitably and feelingly responded, and vocal items and recitations by several of those present concluded a pleasant function. Twenty-six had been previously assisted. A committee meeting of the District Nursing Guild of St. John was held at the residence of Mrs. W. H. Sefton Moorhouse yesterday. Mrs. Sefton Moorhouse presided, and there were also present Mesdames Tripe, Balcombe Brown, Corrigan, Griffiths, and Pearson, Misses Mack and Robinson, and the secretary. The reports of the senior district turso showed that in December 10 new patients were registered, while 11 were discharged, the total number treated during the month being 31 ; 459 visits were paid by the nurses. During January, 15 patients were registered, 14 discharged, 3 removed to the Hospital, and l.to the Home of Compassion, the total number treated being 34 The nurses paid 473 visits. During the two months gifts were gratefully acknowledged from Mesdames Barclay, D?iVis, Denniston, Denton, Grove, Lissack, Hyde, Johnston, Kerr, Moorhouse, M'Leau, Mason, and Wynyard, and Misses Downhard, Edmead, Mack, and Randle, The Terrace Church Giris' Guild (per Mrs. Glasson), Gear Co., and St. John's picnic. Special gifts at Christmas were sent by Mesdumes Baker, Barclay, Corrigan, Lissack, Moorhouse, Pearson, and founders, Misses Eagar, Hume, and Rohieson, Messrs. P.
