RELIEF FUNDS
POOR OF BRITAIN, IRELAND, AND BELGIUM. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Poor of Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Relief Fund was held yesterday. Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., occupied the chair. Reports were received from the secretaries with regard to the position of the funds and the amount which had ' already been transmitted to London. It was decided to make a further remittance of £3500, in association with contributions from other branches, at the earliest possible date. A number of suggestions were made to the committee for the purpose of raising funds, amongst which an offer was received Jrom Mr. Owen Carston, of Wanganui, to conduct a Carnival Queen demonstration. This was referred to the Patriotic Sports Commifctee to be dealt with. Sub-committees were set up to arrange for the shipment of clothing and of frozen meat and produce. It was decided that effort* be continued to raise additional funds, and the committee will be pleased to receive and transmit further donations.
