HARBOUR BOARD
GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Willinglon Harbour Board was held last evening, there being present : Messrs. C. W. Jones (acting-chairman), R. A. Wright, A. MacFarlane, C. E. Daniell, J. W, M'Ewan, A. H. Hindmareh, M. Cohen, H. L. Nathan, J. G. Cobbe, and Captain D. J. Watson. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. R. Fletcher, J. G. Harkness, J. Trevor, and A. D. Kennedy. The Acting-Chairman expressed regret at the absence, through illness, of the Chairman, Mr. Robert Fletcher. He also welcomed bacit to the board table Mr. MacFarlane, who has recently returned from a trip to Europe. Prior to the ordinary meeting, a special meeting was Held, at which the Chairman reported that the formalities in connection with the compilation of lists of payers of dues on ships and otherwise for the purpose of board elections had been complied with. By resolution the lists were approved by, the board. , At the ordinary meeting the financial statement showed .* Current account, credit balance, £40,412 Is 9d ; imprest .account, credit balance, £1422 11s 7d ; on $xed deposit, £60.000. Payments totalling £39,719 5s 2d were authorised, almost £37,0"u0 of fhe amount being for interest, sinking fund, accounts, and wages. The Chairman reported that the Public Works Department had paid to the board on 13th January, 1915, the sum of £15.000 as a payment/ on account in connection with reclamation carried out by the board for the Government at Waterloo-quay North, leaving in abeyance the question ' of the total amount payable. The estimated amount payable was £24,000. Monday, Ist March, 1915, was fixed as the date for the drawing, at tho board's offices, of twenty debentures for redemption on 28tTi August, 1915.
