VERY HOT WEATHER
Just now Wellington, and, in fact, all ew Zealand, is experiencing a spell of very hot weather. Yesterday was a_ "redhot" day, and by common consent it waa proclaimed _ "the hottest day this year." But, according to the official records, such distinction was not due te it. The maximum temperature registered _ during the 24 hours was 75 degrees, which is three degrees lower than that recorded on Sunday, 3rd January. To-day at 1 o'clock the mercury only rose to 69 in the shade. Similar weather has been experienced throughout the Dominion, and the skies have been somewhat hazy. Fogs have been reported on tho west coast. However, fair weather has ruled, and tho barometer is now above normal e.erywherc. Tho prospects are for easterly bre«aes in the north, and freshening northerlies are likely te prevail south of East Cape and Kawhia, with warm, humid conditions. The barometer it likely to fall
