A NEW YEAR'S EVE RIOT

<» AND THE SEQUEL. (BT TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBOENE, 26th January. A further batch of cases in connection with the New Year's Eve riot, when a German, pork butcher's shop was raided, was heard to-day. Several convictions, with fines up to £10, were recorded. The IMagistrate said the defendants could consider themselves lucky at not being charged with manslaughter, seeing that there had been women and children in the butcher's premises at the time of the raid.
