HUTT HIGH SCHOOL
At the usual meeting of the Lower Hutt District High School Committee, held last evening, Mr. H. Baldwin pre* sided. The headmaster's report stated that the average attendance for the last quarter of 1914 was as follows:' — Secondary class, 14 ; Main School, 531 ; Eastern Hutt, 164/ The results of the intermediate examination (senior free place, equal to Civil service entrance) showed that three pupils of the secondary class were successful, namely : — Ted Osborne, Grace Dyer, and Agnes M'Caw, these being the only pupils entered. In the junior scholarship examination, two Eupils, Hector Burns and Edward Locett, gained creditable places and secured junior free places. Robin M'Kay passed the free-place examination. The report was adopted. Arrangements were made for the annual picnic, which is to be held at Upper Hutt on the last Friday in February.
The latest report from the Thorndon Private Hospital with reference to the condition of Mr. and Mrs. 0. V. Dimock, who were injured tlirc-ugh the upsetting of a motor-car on the Paekakariki ' HiU on Mpnday, is that both patients are progressing satisfactorily. The New Zealand Natives' Association Band will play a programme of musio ak Newtown Park this ovening. A special meeting of the Wosl Coasters' Association will be held at tho Tramway Hotel thii evening.
