SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY
The anniversary celebration of the Courtenay-place Congregational Church was brought to a conclusion last night. At 6 o'clock a tea meeting was held, aoid a. public meeting followed. The proceedings opened with a chorus, sung by the children belonging to the Sunday School section, who were assembled on the stage. Mr. Basks, secretary of the Sunday School, read the annual report and balance-sheet, and Mr. Pnlsworth, the superintendent, made some supplementary remarks. The Rev. A. E. Hunt spoke of the valuable work performed by the Sunday School teachers. Their self-sacrifice was worthy of all praise, and the Church owed them a great debt of gratitude. He urged parents to send their children to Sunday morning church service, and announced his intention of giving a prize to the boy or girl who attended most regularly. Recitations were given by Jean O 'Shearer and Wilfred Lewis. Prizes were presented as follow : — General work : Jessie Harper, Irene Little, Clement Smith, Grace Cameron, Russell Bennett, Winnie Happs, Robert Murrow, Gwennie Archer, Arthur Brown, Gilbert Gay, Elsie, Arthur, and Robert Jeremsy, James Charlton, and Thomas Reynolds. The First Class girls were : Connie' Remington, Meryl Jones, Dorothy M'Grath, Thora James, Linda Rountreo, Freda North, Mira Gay, Dorothy Burnett. Boys' prizes : John Longely, Andrew Prague, John Forsyth, Cyril Day, Robert Gray, Stanley Apps, Ken Hassel, David Jones, Leslie Bowden, Jack Cassells. Church attendance : Linda Rountree, Lucy Henderson, Andrew Graham Headland, Leslie Bowden, Wilfred Lewis. Special prizes were awarded to Freda. North and Dorothy Burnett. Charles Parley was presented with. a> gold medal.
