WAIRARAPA TEAM'S VISIT
A team of some ten or twelve chesaists from the Wairarapa is visiting Wellington this week to play two matches. Their first contest is with the Working Men's Club repiesentatives on Thursday evening, when the club's General Committee will make a short adjournment to enable the president, Mr. Mace (who is himself an able player) to accord a hearty welcome to the Waiiarapa team, and also to any visitors who may attend to witness the contest. On Friday evening the "men from beyond the Rimutaka," will be pitted against the chosen of the Wellington South Club, thus repaying the visit which the latter paid to Masterton two years ago. Both matches are being looked forward to with move than oidinary interest, the only regret being that the visitors will be handicapped by the absence of some strong players, notably Fritz Kummer (Mauriceville), Geo. Jones (Masterton), and T. E. Maunsell (Carterton).
