WORKING MEN'S CLUB.
Good progress was made last week in the Working Men's Club's annual handicap tournaments. In the chess contest, J. Reid showed to great advantage, scoring three wins, viz., from Messrs. Alexander, Johnston, and Burgess. Gray won from Coulter, Perry from Larking, Larking from C. Reid, Mowtell from Alexander, and Milesi from Coulter. In the draughts tourney, C Erickson, the club champion, scored a possible (4 games to love) from three competitors, viz., Messrs. Boberts, Hudson, and Johnston. J. Reid backed up 'his chess victories by scoring a possible from Colville. Other results were : Wright 2£ v. Roberts I£, and Warren 2£ v. Colville
