NEWTOWN ». CENTRAL. Newtowii, playing with great combination, turned tables on their opponents, Central, to the tune of 2? runs to 8. Their win Was due to the excellent work of the battery — pitcher Harrison and catcher Jansen. Both sides played new exponents, -who proved themselves worthy of selection. Quito a number of intending players also turned out, iind they were given instruction in the various points of the game. Beven innings only were played, and runs /were scored lor Newtown by Jansen' (5), Harrison, Thompson, M'Clintock (4 each), Crimshaw, and Williamson (3), Asher (2), and Walley and Wilson (1.). For Central. Morris and Rogers (2 each), Laud, Lloyd, M'Dmiald, and Moore (1 each). The following is the score as shown by each respective innings:—Newtown, d— lo— o— l— 2--3— 7. Total 27. Central, I—l—2—o—l—l—2. Total 1 S. Mr. Moriarty, of Idaho, U,S.A., was the referee. The following are the fixtures for next Saturday's matches : — Newtown v. V.M.C.A., Central v. D Battery. Newtown play on No. 1 ground, Miramar, and Central on No. 2.
