About 5.35 p.m. on Saturday, Mrs. Bessie Palmer, aged 74, who resided on Battery-road, walked off a moving tramcar in Faraday-street, and sustained injuries from which she died in a 9Bw minutes. It appears that she had asked to be set down at Millerstreet, but before teaching there she walked, off the car, which was travelling at six miles an hour. An inqiiest wag opened, aJid then adjourned. DUNEDIN, 28th June. The body of George Shirley, the fisherman who was drowned at the Heads through a motor launch capsizing on 17th June, was recovered at Mihiwaka, a. few miles from the eoene of the accident, this morning. TIMAEU, 27th June. Archibald Campbell, the railway tally clerk who was crushed between two trucks by a ii, ton lift from tho s.e. Waiwcra on Thursday morning, died about midnight on Friday. At the Lnqttest members of tho crew stated that tho accident was caused by a special fixing for tho lift giving way. Anderson, a lamp trimmer, Wilts, the boatswain, and Mr. Roberts, third officer, gave evidence regarding the gear. •Andersen 6aid that he fixed the gear, using a new strop mado of 3^in Manila rope, which should bear four tons, and four plies were used. He coidd not tell how or where the rope broke. Tho in qu<ci>t was then adjourned for local evidence till Monday. The deceased was a native of New South Wales, married, and had three young children. He was v ono of twu men who refused to fall into lino with tho strikers some time ago, and had been known as a cricketer. lie umpired tho New South Wales v. South Canterbury match at Tcmuka, last season.
