WATERFRONT LABOUR

EMPLOYMENT ASSOCIATION MANAGER APPOINTED. At a meeting of the committee of the Wellington Waterside Employment Association this morning, Mr. Wm. H. G. Bennett, at present manager of the South Taranaki Shipping Co., was appointed manager of the association. He will take up his new duties at the beginning of August, when it is hoped the association will be able to commence operations on the wharves. At the same meeting a letter was read from Mr. W. M. Connell, acting-secretory of the Wellington Wharf Labourers' Industrial Union, stating that the employers' 1 scheme had been considered by his executive, and that, after due consideration, the union, generally speaking, approved of the provisions of the scheme.
