LOOPING THE LOOP.
The aviator who loops the loop is not inspired by pure zeal in the cause of science, writes James Douglas in the Daily News. He is an acrobat who is paid 'o risk his life in order to attract crowds who enjoy the morbid thrill of watching an extremely dangerous feat. These crowds would not flock to an aerodrome iv order to watch airmen flying in the ordinary way. Flying has ceased to be sensational. In its early stages it possessed the power of trans* mitting to the spectator the morbid pleasure winch is the secret of tho fascination which draws huge crowds to bullfights in Spain. .The progress of aviation has robbed it of that stimulus. The lost stimulus is _ now provided by the danger involved in looping the loop. Tf the bull-fight be an immoral amusement, surely lopping the loop is an amusement equally immoral.
