High Commissioner, presided at the New Zealand dinner held in the Trocadero. The guests included Lord Ranfurly and Lord Plunket, former Governors of New Zealand. Lord Ranfurly, in the course of a speech, said that, in view of the savings of the people, he could not understand why New Zealand came to London to raise loans. ' Mr. Mackenzie, in reply, explained that the country wae developing so fast that it required local accumulations as well as outside capital to meet the demand.
