FINE WEATHER, BUT COLD

. Cold and changeable weather, improving shortly, and a euccession of fine (lays and cold nights, is the present forecast from the Government Weather Bureau. Mr. D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, reported this morning that the weather had been stormy in the night, especially m the north. A storm area has been ocated off East Cape, but it appeared to be passing away to the westward. To-night is likely to be very cold, with hard frosts inland, more particularly in the South Island. The barometer is rising slowly, and with ordinary condihons oold and frosty nights and fine days are to be expected for n while. The weather has not veen very comfortable," said Mr. Bates this morning, "but it is quite seasonable."
