Sir Edward Carson, speaking at the Queen's Hall, said they had heard much about offers and counter-offers, but the only one made in the House of Commons was a hypocritical sham. "Ulster," he continued, "does not want civil war, which is a horrible thing, but she is not afraid. If the Government drives us to it, we will take the consequences like men.*' GUN-RUNNING STEAMERS. , LEGAL ACTIONS. LONDON, 20th May. The" Daily Chronicle (Liberal) states* that in consequence of the Government seizing the steamer Innesmurray for gun-running, the charterers of the vessel will have to pay the owners £8000. The owners of the Helen Craig will also require compensation. The actions will be heard at Dublin shortly.
