LEAGUE
ELECTIONS NOT ACCEPTED. (I! IELKGRI?U.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 20th May. At the formation of the new Rugby League Club in Christchurch on Monday night it was announced that Mr. T. L. Cowlishaw had been elected president Mr. Cowlishaw has been prominently Connected with Rugby football for some years, and ia a vice-president of the Christchurch Football Club. Ho says that naturally he could not accept a position in a League club. Messrs. C. H. Croxton and P. C. Freeth, who were elected vice-presidents of the League Club, atate that in their case the election was made without their knowledge or consent. A similar explanation is made by Mr, L, Cuiney, .who was, elected secretary of the club. Dr. Thacker, who is chairman of tho League Club, writes as follows to the newspapers: "In your report of the meeting last night the gentlemen nominated were elected honorary officials on their own approval, and have each been advised thus."
