j» ' — ASSOCIATION WELLINGTON COMMITTEE. The committee of the Wellington Football Association met last night, Mr. A. E. Wells presiding. A deputation from the Referees' Association waited on the committee with a view to discussing the question of the recovery of the books from an official who had failed to produce tj^em when j required. The committee assured tho deputation that it would take action in the matter, and bring it under the notice of the New, Zealand Council. It was also stated that the .matter would bo ! brought under the notico of the Now Zealand Referees' Association. The Tramways Association Football Club applied for registration, to play on Wednesdays. The application was granted. The new club s colours are amber and black. The Wanganui Association wrote stating that it could not come to Wellington on 3rd June to play a match as proposed by the Wellington Association. The Marisfc Brothers' School, Hawke-stotte-street, applied for admission to the primary schools competition. The application was referred/ to the Boys' Subcommittee. A similar application from the Worser Bay School was also referred to the same sub-committee, It was decided to donate a ball for the use of the Taita School Club, and to take steps to promote competition among the boys in the Hutt Valley. South ( Wellington applied for the use of a ground at Duppa-street on 3rd June for its annual match against Newtown Congregational Club. It was decided to allot the new ground at South Kilbirnio for the match. Nelson wrote asking if a Wellington team could go there to play oh either 4th July, Ist August, or 6th September., Consideration of thb matter was held over. Mr. Yeomans brought tip the question of the late hour at which matches aro started, and it" was decided to write to the Referees' Association urging them . to see that games were started punctually. ■ ' Ifc was decided that the CorinthianHospital League game be played on the Basin Reserve on 3rd ■ June, with V.M.C.A. v. St. David's, third division, as a curtain-raiser, The Town Clerk wrote, stating that hff wa« directed by the Reserves Committee' to call- the attention of the association to the fact that the association would be required to take steps when matches' are being pla-yed on the city reserves, and more partiaularly the Basin to have the spectators kept absolutely off the playing area. Considerable" damage had been occasioned during the winter months, when the grounds are more or less damp. The Town Clerk went on to sa.y that the Reserves Committee had resolved that when any match was being played on. any city reserve, when the public Was charged for admission, the association or ' union controlling the match was to, have tho exclusive use of the reserve, and the association charging for admission was to provide those bodies prevented from playing their , ordinary matches on such grounds with substitute grounds on tho city reserves, if possible. Such arrangements were to be made between the associations concerned, and in tile case of any dispute the> question would be dealt with by the Reserves Committee. The Town Clerk also wrote, stating that the application of the association far the use of the Basin Reserve on 3rd Juno, with the right to charge for^ ddmission, had been granted, subject to the usual conditions, viz., that the' council collect 20 per cent, of the gross gate receipts; that tho association pay tho cost of authority to charge for admission; that the council supply gatekeepers, ticket-sellers, etc., and supervise the gates generally, the cost to be paid for by tho association.
