SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

'j here was a large audience at the Sailors' Friend Society last evening, when Miss Mueller provided a" delightful entertainment. The following contributed vocal and elocutionary items to the programme : — Mesdames Downes, Claridge, Misses Fairclough, Millward, Penney, Mueller, Messrs. Downes, Adams, and Clark (R.M.S. Corinthic). Mrs. Downes played the accompaniments. Several popular choruses were sung by the audience. An amusing conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. Several men took the pledge of total abstinence as a result of a temperance address by the missioner (Mr. Moore).
