SENIOR CADETS
DRUM AND FIFE BAND. A movement has been on foot for some little time to establish a drum and lifo band for tho senior cadets of Wellington, but its formation ha* been hampered by a lack of financial help, An appeal in tho press and by circular letter a few weeks ago met; with little response from tht> citizens, in marked contrast to those of tho other largo centres, in every one of which there aro one or more cadet bands. No grant from the Government is available for the purpose, and aa matters of this kind require considerable financial aseistanco to commence and make them a fauccess tho co-operation of the public is once more being sought. Tho following have generously subscribed to the fund: — Tho Hon. R. Heaton RUodos, the Hon M James Allen, tho Hon. W. H. Herries, tho Hon. W. Fraser. and the Hon. F. M. B. Fißher. Those desirous of contributing may forward their subscriptions to tho Hon. Secretory, Lieutenant F. A. Ruck, Box 112, Wellington. Tho public who attend tho review of the senior cadots by Goneral Sir lan Hamilton at Newtown Park on Saturday afternoon will have an opportunity of showing their *sympathy with tho movement in a. practical manner, and collection boxas for the band funds will be placed at tho entrance gates and other places in Newtown Park.
