ENQUIRY INTO FATAL COLLISION
SIGNALS OVERLOOKED OR MISTAKEN ENGINE-DRIVER'S POSITION. (BY miSOnAPH.-PRt'SS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, This Day. An enquiry into the circumstances connected with the death of David Peter Leo Donovan, killed through two crrginOs colliding, concluded to-day. The Coroner said lie muat come to the conclusion that the danger signals had been either overlooked or mistaken by the driver of. the Port Chalmers engine, David Dutton. Mr, Macgregor said that amounted virtually to a charge of manslaughter against Dutton. The Coroner : I do not think so. It must be shown he did something wrong. Mr. Alacgregor : It him in a very, unfortunate position. v There is no direct charge* made against him even now. , ■ The Coroner remarked that that was his decision.
