MAORI DROWNED
WHILE. COLLECTING DRIFTWOOD. *■ (BT TELEGRAPH. -PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WAIROA, This Day,. \ Maori named Tipu Kaiauria, aged 21, a Native of Taupo, was drowned in the Mohaka River last evening. IleXvas engaged collecting 1 driftwood, but slipped in* and 1 was carried away. While going down the stream he managed to get on a huge log, and was seen undressing in order to make an attempt to swim, when the log was carried out into the breakers over the bar, and the man was drowned. The body was recovers^.
