MR. HENRY BRACY RETURNING TO SYDNEY
FINE AMERICAN THEATRES. A notable figure in the theatrical world, Mr. Henry Bracy, is at .present in Wellington. Mr. Bracy was for a, long time producer for J._ C. Williamson and Co., and is now in enjoyment of an engagement in keeping with his long service and the high opinion in which he is held. Mr._ Bracy left Sydney on 21st March, with intention of visiting San Francisco. He returned by s the Tahiti, which arrived here to-day, and is going back to Sydney in her to-morrow. Talking -with a Post reporter this morning, Mr. Bracy said that his trip was undertaken partly for the sake of his health and partly to etiaSle him to see his wife again, after an absence of about five years. He was sorry to say that the journey had Hot been at all a pleasant one. He found that Mrs. Bracy— Misa Clare Thompson to theatre-goers who remember her appearances here — was ill at Los Angeles and had to be operated upon for varicose veins. Instead pf spending his holiday at San Francisco, Mr. Bracy was able to stop there only a night, arid spent a fortnight at Los Angeles. He Was also unable to go out much, and^ saw comparatively little of theatrical interest. The only play he attended was a" comic opera, "The Girls Behind the Counter," which was very well done. Speaking of the American theatres, Mr. Bracy said that he found them to be magnificent in both cities, particularly the Orpheum in each place. The American buildings were far preferable to the Australian architecturally, all the arrangements for the public comfort and convenience being particularly fine. It was- naturally impossible for Mr. 1 Bracy to go to New York, where his son Sidney is, to us© his father's words, "making a great name i'oi ; 'himself in the moving pictures." He was a we^lknown comedian here several years ago, but is wedded to tho picture stage. Mr. Henry Bracy will resume his duties as soon as he arrives in Sydney.
