ITS REMOVAL OBJECTED TO. (BY TELEGRAPH— SPECIAL TO THE POST.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. When the Grand. Jury had returned from considering a case at the Supreme Court yesterday the foreman (Mr. W. F. Durward) handed a memorial to the Chief .Justice protesting against the removal of the gaol to Wanganui, considering that it should be kopt there for criminals undergoing short sentences, as at present. His Honour replied that the matter was outside his jurisdiction and he_ had no power to deal with it. The Minister of Justice had such power, and lie would send him tho memorial.
