THE PUNISHMENT. • (BY TELBORAPH PREBS ASSOCIATION.) ' DUNEDIN, This Day. In the Supremo Court this morning Alfred William Aklred, convicted at Oamaru of arson, was brought up for sentence. The jury found Aldred guilty. The point was reserved for the Appeal Court as to whether he was mentally responsible for his actions, and the Court confirmed the verdict. Mr. Justice Sim sentenced the prisoner to cix months' imprisonment, and ordered, him to be afterwards detained for reformatory treatment for a period not exceeding five years.
