LOCAL AND GENERAL <m The Postal authorities advise that tho s.is. Willochra, which sailed from Sydney on the 16th instant, is bringing Australian mails only, and is due to-morrow Morning. The Hospital authorities report to-day that Jack T. Smith, wharf labourer, who was burned about the face, legs, and body, at the fire which destroyed tho Manchester boardinghouse in Courtenayplace on Sunday morning, is still in a very serious condition. The other patients who were in the house when the fire broke out — Mary Higginson, Andrew Regan, and Cissy O'Neill, are doing well. Tlie inquest on the remains of Sarah Ackerman and a man whose name has not yet been ascertained, was opened at 3 o'clock this afternoon by Mr. p. G. A. Cooper, S.M. According _to the Licensing' Act, the Hutt Licensing Committee should meet on the first Wednesday in June. As this year the date falls on the King's Birthday the meeting of the committee will be held on Friday, the sth of June. A real bargain must be low in prico but high in quality.
