It is about twenty-seven years einco an Amateur Operatic Society in Wellington performed " Mari fcana." It was then put on with nil the Btage accessories, and many peoplo in Wellington to-day will recall the excellent performance given. This splendid composition of W. Vincent Wallace- abounds in real gems, such as the "Angelus Chorus," " Alas, Those Chiinea, "In Happy Moments," "There is a, Flower Thab Bloonieth," to say nothing of Uie beautiful romance. " 'Tis the Itarp in tho Air" ; the trio, "Turn on, Old Tiino" ; and tho " Mystery Chorus " in tho final© to the second act. For the coming performance on the 28th May the Royal Wellington Choral Society has secured a fine team of soloists, and patrons can be assured of a very enjoyable evening. The box plan opens on Thursday next at the Dresden.
