MAGISTRATE'S COURT

To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. For drunkenness, Andrew Sotnervill© was fined 20s, with the alternative of three days' imprisonment, while George Harley was fined 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. One first-offender was convicted and discharged, and two others fined 10s. Sidney Snow, who had behaved in a disorderly manner while drunk, was fined 20s, with the alternative of three days' imprisonment. Joseph John Tobin was brought before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., this afternoon, and was remanded to appear at Auckland on the 21st, on the charge oi theft of four cases of fruit at Auckland, tho property of Kate Nicholas. JUVENILE CASES. Two boys, aged ton-and twelve years respectively, were charged with breaking and entering tho house of David Millar and stealing therefrom money and articles to the total value of,, £10 ss. Both boys were cautioned and dischai'g» ed, on condition that their respective fathers paid £3 17s 6d each towards the damage done. An order was made for the restitution of the articles recovered. At the Lower Hutt Court yesterday, before Messrs. Chapman and Cudby, J.P.s, judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the following independent civil cases : Thomas Burt v. A. S. Alexander, £5 3s 6d, costs lls; same v. T. Anderson, £7 16s, costß 20s.
