SEDITION CHARGE
HUNTER FOUND GUILTY SENTENCE TO-MORROW. The second trial of Edward Hunter on a charge of uttering (sedition in a. speech on 14th December last year, in Newtown Park, was held yesterday, aud resulted in a verdict of guilty. The accused was at the time a delegate from Westland to the conference held in Wellington in connection with the settlement of the. strike, and his speech had reference to the position on the West Coast. No evidence wae given, after The Post went to press yesterday. After Mr. Wilford had addressed the jury, his Honour Mr. Justice Hosking delivered a long and detailed summing-up. The jury retired at 4.15 p.m., and at, 5.50 returned with a verdict of guilty. At the Bams time thoy recommended the accused for mercy on- the ground that lie had probably been, carried away by his feelings. The prisoner will be sentenced at 9.45 a.m. to-morrow.
