DOG SHOW

CHALLENGE AND SPECIAL WINNERS The Wellington Kennel dab* dog show in the Harbour Board's X Shed attracted large numbers of tho public last evening and to-day. The show is the best. yet held under the auspices of the club, and the entries constitute a record for th© Dominion. Fox terrier*, Irtoh setters, and pointer* Are exceptionally well represented, and ft number of new classes— Great Dane, Maltese, Pekinese, French poodles, pugs, Daechundß, and Pomeranians— *re on exhibition. In rough-coated collies Mr. J. Q. Parker wae again very successful with his dogs, which secured two challenges. The champion Moegiel Sensation earned off two firsts and a challenge (the fourth he has obtained), and Mosgiel Jack (nino months old) scooped five first* and a challenge. In the brace class Mr. Parker was the only competitor, and way awarded the first prize. In Borzois, Mr, H. E. Vere's champion dog Whiro Wolf .wan again, successful in winning the challenge, and Mr. W. Nidd'g Rivereleigh Betty carried off tho honours in the class for bitches. The challenge in Irish terriers, dogs, was won by Mr. D. T. Sinclair's Ahnnn Home Rule. * In Irish water spaniels, tho challenge went to Macphereon and Langford'e bitch Molly Bawn. Mr. F. F. Newman's dog Cherry Royalist wan awarded the challenge in Airedale terriers. The Swagger, owaed by Mr. C. Mitchell, carried off the challenge in Australian terriers. Mr. H. 0. Mana'ft champion dog Sydney Toby secured the challenge in the Sydney silky terrier class. Mr. H. Perrett, jun.'e, dog Wild Knight carried off Messrs. W. H. Green and S6ns' trophy for the best greyhound doe or bitch. The Pukerua Sporte' special for the best setter went to Frank Daines's dog Idstone Rhu. (This trophy has to be won twice.) The A.O. special for the best Gordon setter in the show went to Mr. W. Berry's dog Ponto. Mr. S. C. Crisp's dog Sto'ur Right Sort was awarded Mr. A. W. Blair's (special for tho spaniel (any variety) dog or bitch. The same gentleman's special for the best Irish terrier puppy (dog or bitch) went to Mr. D. T. Sinclair's puppy, dog Ahuriri Shamus. Mr, Paul Hunter's cold medals were awarded as follow :— Spaniels, Mr. W. C. Leversedge's cocker spaniel bitch Papanui Guess Again; pointers, best puppy, Mr. W. Beyer's pointer dog Ike; setters, best puppy, Mr. J. H. Wright's English setter bitch Beach Gem; greyhounds, best puppy, Mr. H. Perrett's, jun., dog Wild Knight; bulldogs, best puppy, Mr. Harold Plimmor's dog Kurfc Boskerj fox terriers, smooth or wire, best puppy, Mr. A. Richards's smoothcoated dog Glencoe Aristocracy. The judging was still in progress this afternoon. To-night the show will again be open.
