CANADIAN BUTTER TRADE
A deputation of butter exporters will wait upon the Prime Minister this evening with reference to the conditions under which the Union S.S. Company nrill carry butter from Wellington to Vancouver this coming season— beginning on Ist September — and also to go generally into the whole matter of shipping facilities and freights for butter from Wellington to Vancouver. To-morrow there will be a similar deputation to Mr. M'Lellau, of the Union S.S. Company, who has charge of the Canadian-Australian line department of the Union Company. That gentleman is coming up from Dunedin to-night, and is due here by the Wahine to-morrow morning. He comes specially to deal with the points raised by butter exporters, and to which full reference is made on page 2 of this issue. A passenger who joined the Rotorua at Capetown was arrested on arrival of the vessel at Hobart on a charge of forging and uttering in South Africa. The Harbour Board is inviting tender* for the Pipitea Wharf store contract.
