SCHOOLS' REPRESENTATIVES TO PLAY MANAWATU T3OYS. The following boys have been chosen to represent the Wellington primary Bchools in their Rugby match against the Manawatu schools at Athletic Park on Saturday, as a curtain-raiser to the Wellington-Taranaki game :— -Forwards, Rose (Terrace), Bennett (Terrace), Cameron (South Wellington). Hawpon (Terrace), Bowers (Hutt) Guy (Mount Cook), Boyce (Hutt) ; wing forward. Doyle (Hutt) ; backs, Matheson (South Wellington). M'Cabe (Te Aro), Wilton (Mount Cook), Holmes (Terrace), Seivwright (Terrace), Porter (South Wellington), King (Petone).
A very unprovoked assault on a Chinese shopkeeper in Tinakorvroad fe« suited in a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm being preferred againat a young man named William Warne at tho Magistrate's Court to-day. Two young men entered the shop, and whilst one called for a packet of cigarettes Warne hit the Chinaman with some blunt instrument, inflicting a serious wound on the head and necessitating several stitches. Wainc was remanded till Wednesday next.
