MID-WEEK CRICKET

UNION CLUB. Mr. G. M'Gill presided over the thirteenth annual meeting of the Union Cricket Club, playing under the auspices of the Wednesday Association, held last evening. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The report showed that last season was the most successful in th<#.;history of the club, both senior and junior teams winning their respective competitions. The success of the junior team was the more noteworthy, as this eleven had been last on the lißt the previous year. The results of the season's play were : — Seniors : Played 8 matches, won 6, lost 2 ; championship points, 24. Juniors : Played 8 matches, won 7, lost 1 ; championship points, 28. The batting average in the senior eleven was secured by C. M'Gill, with an average of 65.5, and the bowling by V. Harris, with an average of 8.4 runß per wicket. A, J. Williamson headed the junior batting with an aver-, age of 21, and A. J. Coleman, 7.16, topped the bowling. T. Taylor won Mr. Trickett's trophy for the best fielder in the Senior team, and A. C. Tassie for best junior. 0- M'Gill and W. Warne were awarded medals for obtaining centuries, A. Coleman afld A. Williamson •for scores' over 70, and E. Cohen for taking nine wickets in one innings. Mr. Taylor donated a silver cup to the club, and it was decided to award it to the best all-round player, Mr. W. Warne to be the first holder. Financially, the, club Was also in a good position, the balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £2 6s. It was decided to enter two teams this aeason—ohe senior and one junior, and also to open with a practice at- Kilbirnie on Wednesday, 2nd October. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected Mr. J. C. Trickett; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Bolton, J. O'Brieo, W. J. Jorgenson, H. Langdon,- Fairbaim, M. Mitchinsoii, James Macdonald, C. T. Emery, T. Palmer, Lieutenant Herd, A. Wallihg, T. Shields, 1\ O'Sullivan; secretary and treasurer, *Mr. A. J. Williamson > management committee, Messrs. Mulford, O^Sullivan, and Williamson; selection committee (Senior), Messrs. T. Taylor, C. M'Gill, and J. J, O'Sullivan ; junior, A. J. Willia'mson and E. E.- Cohen legates to Wednesday Association, J. J. O'Sullivan, J. Mulford, and A. J. Williamson.
