The Federal Arbitration Court's award in the marine engineers' dispute fixe§ the range ,of pay at fr,om £22 a month for chiefs, £17 10s for secpnd engineers, and £1,6 10s for thjrd engineers, on vessels, of under 100 horsepower to 450 horse-power, to £32 for chjef engineers, £22 for second, £18 for third, £15 for fourth, and £12 others on vessels pi 450 h.p. and over. ■ The ,t}me on duty when in port or at sea, or partly in port and partly at sea, shall be eight hours, and when actually in p,ort from 7 o'clock in the morning to ,5 o'clock in the evening. This doe^ not apply to chiefs of vessels having less than three engineers. Overtime pay shall be half a crown an hour, with five /shillings for chiefs. v This applies to Sundays and holidays. Engineers shall not be asked to keep watch, excepting yrhen in an unsafe port or where the stay in port is less £han iwenty-fpur hqusr.
